FAQ

What exactly am I getting?
A whole Boston butt (pork shoulder), slow-smoked by Zeigler's BBQ & Catering. It comes in a pan with its juices and extra seasoning already added, ready to reheat and pull.

How big is it, and how many people does it feed?
Each pork butt has about 4 to 6 pounds of meat, enough for roughly 16 to 20 servings. That makes it great for holiday gatherings, game days, or stocking the freezer.

What sauce comes with it?
Each pork butt comes with one bottle of Zeigler's Apple Bourbon BBQ sauce. Extra bottles are $7.

How is it packaged?
The smoked pork butt is delivered in a pan with its juices, covered and ready to go straight into the oven.

How do I reheat it?
Preheat your oven to 275°F. Keep the pork butt covered with foil in the pan it came in, and heat it for about 1½ hours. Don't drain the juices. Then pull the meat apart with two forks and season to taste.

Why do we sell pork butts and not popcorn?
The pack stopped selling popcorn several years ago because interest had dropped off. Since then, we've built a great partnership with Zeigler's BBQ & Catering, and we sell their smoked pork butts to support our pack. The fundraiser has been very popular in the three years since we started.

What are some ways I can sell pork butts?
Start with friends, family and colleagues. We also recommend reaching out to your neighborhood.

How can I start selling?
We've created a set of resources you can use and customize to help you sell. You'll find them on the Resources page. You're welcome to use them or create your own materials.

There are two ways to sell:

  1. Track orders yourself. Record your sales on the Scout Order Tracking Form, then submit your orders using the order form.

  2. Use a personalized online order form. We can set you up with an order link that already includes your Scout's name, so every order is automatically credited to them. You'll also get a personal QR code. If you're interested, email Michael Lamontagne at michael.lamontagne@gmail.com
    .

Are we responsible for collecting payment and delivering the pork butts?
Yes. The pack will place the order, pick up the pork butts from Zeigler's, and arrange a central pickup location. You're responsible for collecting payment from your customers and delivering their pork butts.

How can payments be made?
Customers can pay you directly, or you can ask them to pay the pack using one of these options:

Please make sure your Scout's name is in the memo or notes.

If you collect payments yourself, please send them to Pack 471 by Thursday, November 12.

What is the focus of this year's fundraiser?

This year we want to serve our community more than ever. We'll collect donated pork butts and deliver them to first responders in our community. And for every 10 pork butts sold, the pack will donate $25 to school lunch funds, starting with Garrison Mill and Davis.

What does the pack do with the money raised?
We use the funds to run the pack, including events that give back to our community.
